A Travel Guide to the War of 1812 in the Chesapeake – Eighteen Tours in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia
The focus of this research is on seventeenth-century witchcraft in the Chesapeake. To date, there has not been an in depth study witchcraft in the early Southern colonies. Most studies of American colonial witchcraft tend to be either on the 1692 witchcraft hysteria of Salem. While both regions were comprised of English colonies, there were profound differences between the Northern and Southern colonists. These disparities resulted in dramatically different ways each group perceived the nature of witchcraft, and the way they dealt with it. To aid in the understanding of the place of witchcraft in the Southern worldview, the use of the traditional Puritan model of witchcraft as a heresy has been abandoned in favor of an English seventeenth-century model that holds witchcraft as a practice. Because this study covers criminal and civil trials over eighty years, it allows for a tracing of the evolution of the beliefs in the Chesapeake. As the social, political, and economic conditions on the frontier gave way to an emerging gentrified society, witches and their place in the Chesapeake were pushed to the background of a very colorful, eccentric society.
After reviewing recent research in Graph Drawings, in this book, author investigated: 1) Novel heuristic algorithms to solve the 1-page and 2-page BCNPs. They obtained the results better than or comparable with existing algorithms. 2) Genetic algorithms for the BCNPs. They obtained better results than the latest heuristic algorithms. 3) Two neural network models for the 1-page and 2-page BCNPs, respectively, and the convergence of the neural network models. Both models obtained good results. Especially, the model for the 2-page BCNP achieved much better performance than the existing model. 4) The complexity of parallel genetic algorithms, and the unified framework of PGA models in the form of function PGA (subpopulation size, cluster size, migration period, topology). 5) Theorems about the 1-page and 2-page BCNs for some kinds of structural graphs. 6) Proximity to the optimal crossing numbers for the evaluation of different algorithms on some kinds of structural graphs, and conjectures of 1-page and 2-page BCNs for some kinds of structural graphs.
Every Home a Distillery – Alcohol, Gender, and Technology in the Colonial Chesapeake
A beautifully illustrated hardback picture book about one of the most exciting cities in the world! Aimed at families with young children each feature or building is introduced on a right-hand page in a clue style format - close up or not immediately obvious what it is. The reader then turns the page to discover the whole scene with the feature in it and to read the explanatory text. The final page in the sequence of four shows other features from the scene in vignette accompanied by background information about each one.

Grammaire savoir-faire is a single-volume grammar book for those studying French at beginner and intermediate level. The volume is made up of a series of double-page units; each including a page of theory and a page of exercises. The grammar structures are presented clearly and concisely, focussing on the communicative aspects of the language. The type of exercises provided are organised in a logical order, and are extremely varied: gap-fill, multiple-choice, sentence transformations, true or false, sentence ordering, listening activities etc.
This book is concerned with the study and analysis of search engines and page rank algorithm in semantic space. Several search engines have been proposed, which allow increasing information retrieval accuracy by exploiting a key content of semantic web resources, ie relations. However, in order to rank results, most of the existing solutions need to work on the whole annotated knowledge base. The proposed case and relation based page rank algorithm is designed based on query definition process using ontological relations. The proposed architecture uses a hybrid methodology named case and relation based page rank algorithm which uses past problem solving experience maintained in the case based rank algorithm to form a best matching relations. This proposed approach reduces the search time by avoiding the generation of annotated page graphs for irrelevant results. In this work, a novel ranking strategy is proposed with the capability of fetching the results which are relevant to the user query by using the previous knowledge of search and providing a relevant score for the result pages by considering the user query, the page annotation and the underlying ontology.
